Movable Type is a “personal publishing system”. Well, it’s really a well designed, easy to use, web based tool that allows you to manage multiple web logs (blogs) on your site.
I’m not a blog type of person, but I am lazy. Movable Type offers me much of the flexibility I was looking for in a content management system for ivany.org. There is still work to be done and much of the functionality is extra for me, but I didn’t see the need to re-invent the wheel.
Movable Type works by placing the last N entries on the front page. All entries get archived in one of many different ways. Since I’m not planning on a weblog, I’m using Category based archiving. This allows me to specify a category for each entry I make. This keeps things together under one topic once they disappear from the main page.
